Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s directive to keep IMF program on track
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed to keep IMF program on track. The Prime Minister sought detailed briefing on tax targets. The Prime Minister will be briefed in this regard next week. The reward scheme will continue, the current pace of tax collection will be maintained. This was stated by Chairman FBR Dr Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed while talking to media. He said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed to keep IMF program on track, the Prime Minister has also emphasized on meeting the annual tax target.
He said that there is hope for tax collection of Rs.6100 billion in the current financial year. General concerns have been raised about the amnesty scheme. The Prime Minister has asked for a detailed briefing on the tax targets. The Chairman FBR said that contacts were being made with the IMF for the 7th Economic Review Negotiations and the scheme of giving rewards to the taxpayers would continue in the new government also. He said that the current pace of tax collection would be maintained. He said that the tax revenue in the current month is also encouraging.
